Print Making Workshop

Printmaking is the process of making artworks by printing, normally on paper. Printmaking normally covers only the process of creating prints that have an element of originality, rather than just being a photographic reproduction of a painting. Prints are created from a single original surface, known technically as a matrix or a plate. Prints are multipliable, easy to transport and exhibit.

Rosemary Maddock and Chantal Abdul-Noor will lead this class. Rosie arrived in Sudbury from the U.K. in 2009 having received a B.A. Honours Degree in “Drawing for Fine Art Practice" from Bath University shortly before moving, and a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design from Abingdon and Witney College three years earlier. Her interests could broadly be described as experimental. Chantal is an Instructor at Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Sciences where she teaches Graphic Design and is a member of the Association of Registered Graphic Designers

Swedish Embroidery

Swedish weaving, a form of embroidery is a very relaxing and fun needle craft that dates back several centuries. In more recent times, this old needle craft has also been known as Swedish huck weaving, huckaback darning, huck embroidery and punto yugoslavo.

In the 1930's and 1940's, Swedish huck weaving on toweling was so popular that many designs were created. Some of these designs have been adapted for use with Monk's cloth. Today, the resurgence of Swedish weaving on Monk's cloth has made it once again very popular and the hottest needlecraft to do.

Join our craft group to learn how to embroider the Swedish way.
