Beginners Ukulele Lessons

The ukulele started to become popular in Canada in the 1960s when educator J. Chalmers Doane introduced the instrument to school music programs across the country. It was ideal for this purpose as it was an inexpensive and practical teaching instrument to foster musical literacy in the classroom. 50,000 schoolchildren and adults learned ukulele through the Doane program at its peak. ParkSide member Marc Noiseux will try to emulate this success at the ParkSide Centre. A retired teacher, he has received a great deal of high quality instruction with this instrument and would like to pass on his knowledge to others.

If you are new to the Ukulele, Marc will be here at 11:00 am to get you up to speed. You will need to bring your own ukulele.
