Strawberry Festival

According to Wikipedia, the strawberry is not, from a botanical point of view, a berry. Technically speaking, it is an aggregate accessory fruit. While this might be true, all we know about strawberries is that they are delicious and that the start of the strawberry season signals the real start of summer here in Northeastern Ontario. Join us for our celebration of this wonderful fruit and listen to the music provided by Leo Rainville.

Blueberry Barbeque

Blueberries grow in abundance in Northeastern Ontario and the Sudbury Blueberry Festival was created to celebrate this wonderful resource which is now considered the world’s most nutritious fruit. There are numerous blueberry pancake breakfasts, a blueberry pie eating contest, garden parties, concerts, family and children’s events that are all open to the public. Presiding over these good times during the third week of July each year are Sudbury's most famous couple Sud-berry and Sudbrina Bear the Festival mascots.

The ParkSide Centre takes part annually in this event by hosting its Blueberry Barbeque. Come down to the Centre to enjoy a barbeque meal with a heavy dose of blueberries and the Sparkly Sisters will be here to entertain you while we pay tribute to the humble blueberry.
