Competitive Snooker for Seniors                                NATIONAL QUALIFIER!

The ParkSide Centre is excited to announce that we have again joined forces with the Canadian Billiards and Snooker Association to provide a higher caliber of snooker competition for Sudbury players.

Tournaments will be held at the ParkSide Centre every week starting in September and ending in April. The top two players for the scheduled year will earn an invitation to the Canadian Championships in 2014. Eric Downie and Claude Langlois represented the ParkSide Centre and Northern Ontario at the 2014 Canadian Senior Snooker Championships and finished 4th and 5th respectively.

Players must be 55 years or older to qualify for these tournaments and the purpose is not to take players away from any other snooker leagues or clubs, but to give those individuals that may want a little bit of tougher competition the opportunity to participate.

Players will be handicapped for regular play during the season and depending on the amount of players per tournament, you will be guaranteed a minimum of 5 games.

If you would like an opportunity to play snooker at a more advanced level of play then please contact the front desk at the ParkSide Centre. A minimum of 8 events are required to qualify.

Be a Santa to a Senior

Each year Home Instead partners with the ParkSide Centre and other local organizations to spread holiday cheer to lonely or financially-challenged seniors through the Be a Santa to a Senior program. Local seniors are identified who might not otherwise receive gifts during the holiday season. The ParkSide sets up a large Christmas tree in the lobby which Home Instead adorns with ornaments. Each senior's gift requests are written on these ornaments. People then visit the Centre to take an ornament, register it with one of our volunteers, purchase the gift and return it and the ornament to the Centre to be wrapped at a Wrapping Party. This is a great way to help an isolated and under privileged senior.
